I have not seen this type of "stopper" before. Anyone know what the closure is called? The bottle is Tiffany & Allen / Paterson NJ. The "flip down arm" is broke (found taped together in the bottom of the bottle) when i bought it (glued together for the pics). The bottle has a chip on the back heel.

Bought with Watson Littell Blob. This pic is without the lever arm.

It looks to be a Rich Closure...

Rich Closure, circ: 1882-1885, Occurs on 5 bottles,
Invented by: Augustus E. Rich,
American Patent: January 10, 1882, Number: 252,059,
This closure was marketed by the Champion Stopper Manufacturing Company of Greenfield, Massachusetts. The stopper was based on earlier patents and closed by tightened by pressing the lever tight
.

I would be interested in owning it... Jim

Well you are right on Jim, that explains the embossing on the bottom.

Cyberdigger: The bottles were from the same collection (they have similar embossed sticker/ tags on them). There were two other blobs with closures (Oxford NJ) and a brewery fron NJ that I did not buy.

I bought them at a local flea market from a guy who deals in bottles. Because of the tags, I asked about them: he said he bought a collection at a local estate sale in Central Ohio.
