Oil lamp cleaning questions

I bought a Dietz Little Wizard oil lamp in hopes of restoring it. I do not plan on getting it back to working condition but just looking better. However, there are three coats of paint on it and I can't seem to get them off. I heard white vinegar would get rust off. Would it help with the paint problem? I have also been wondering about its age. Thanks

I'd use Paint Stripper on it. Like Aircraft Paint Remover, sold in spray cans. Only Problem is in the old days it worked great. BUT, Nowadays with EPA Regulations & government interference all the new Paint Stripper is made Eviro Friendly & Green safe, ect., ect., & as a result it now works like crap, pretty useless. Will take now 10 cans & use over & over 10 times to get the job done when it use to take 1 can 1 time. The other method that works good is to remove glass & anything not metal & have it sand blasted or Media Blasted which will work great at removing both Paint & Rust. Good Luck. LEON.

Sorry for the late response. I will try the paint remover idea. I do not have access to a sand blaster and I'm trying to keep the aged look. Thanks for chiming in.
