The oldest bottle in my collection is actually a reportedly ancient demijohn. (did you know demijohn is taken from Persian?)
I bought this maybe 15 or more years ago from a local collector. He told me at the time it was Persian and a rope or leather strap went below the collar so it could be carried on a camel/horse,etc.
I've looked online for info about it and can't find anything remotely similar. It is crude, about 22 inches tall, no pontil, applied collar, no real mouth "finishing" was done, it has bits of embedded ash and cinders as well as many bubbles of various sizes, and wavey lines around the body (some look like streaming elnongated bubbles). These start at the base then, sort of spiral towards the top.
The vertical lines in the picture is a reflection of my blinds and not in the glass.

Zane...Thanks, I agree. It is the major reason I bought it, even though at this point - I'm not sure of its origins.
