There's an ad on craigslist for this insulator. The seller states that it weighs 41 lbs. I'd have to build one heavy duty shelf if I was to get something like that. [8|] I wonder what those were used for? ~Mike
Small transmission lines of 44-70 KV, Mike. It has a "clamp top", where a aluminum "shoe" was bolted to hold the conductor. I have removed hundreds and tossed 'em in a dumpster. We only saved the nice mustard colored 2 part ones from the early 1900s. That type are much later, 1940s-60s. Currently manufactured ones are sky gray in color.
Ya, they dont really have any value unless they are an older piece, as far as large porcelain insulators goes. Those are a little modern to bring any real value.
