My friend found this bottle a few days ago in a construction site. I told him it's probably from 1935 or 1945 since it has the 5 on the right side of the OI logo. Anyone know which of these dates is the more likely candidate and what this bottle may have been used for?

It has no markings or embossing other than the company logo on the bottom. It can't be alcoholic since prohibition would have been in effect in 1935 and it has no "federal law prohibits the reuse of this bottle" written on it which would have been required after prohibition. So maybe some sort of juice bottle?

I think I see a dot next to the middle number, so I’m going with 45. One dot = 40’s, two dots = 50’s, they switched to the OI logo (no diamond) in the late 50’s.

Very clean for a const. site find! I think 1935, possibly ketchup or other condiment. Nice!

My guess would be vinegar.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say Malort

The embossed federal statement didn't really start showing up until around '35, I have a couple post prohibition whiskey bottles without the federal embossing, a federal tax stamp was used until the embossed federal statement was added. I'd guess vinegar or some kind of juice bottle, looks cool.
