Not a soda, but a paper beer label on a MILK GLASS bottle. This bottle was made by the Hazel Atlas Glass Company of Zanesville, OH. They called the color PLATONITE WHITE. I have no reason to doubt the authenticity of the label being original to the bottle. The label has a date of 1954 on it. This was likely a sample and never put into production.

I would guess your New York beer label on the milk glass bottle is legit . Here in Cleveland, Ohio, Black Label Beer used the milk glass bottles for a short time. They turn up every once in awhile. I have one but I'm at work right now, so I pulled this photo off the web....
The TOPPER was put into production in the Rochester area. This according to collectors from the area. They also say these bottles with TOPPER Ale, Beer and Dortmunder labels show up "every once in a while" just like your Carling steinies.

It makes sense. The Royal Ruby beers also had paper labels and I think they came out about the same time.
