Hi everyone :) I am a tour guide in Crystal River, FL. Thursday 9-22-22 I found what I believe to be a Pepsi-Cola spiral bottle, with being in the river bottom so long the ACL is pretty much non-existent. I can see all the numbers and letters on the bottom and hoping someone can help tell me what they mean. DES.PAT 178.917 below that is 7 59. Then below that is 3 B and the bottom arch has L-985. I do recognize the Anchor Hocking logo in the middle as well. The side does clarify it is a 10oz. Thank you for all your help :)

Welcome! The 59 is probably a date code, like you said. The DES PAT means Design Patent and a quick search of the number shows it was patented in 1956. The rest of the numbers are probably for the molds and the factory locations.

Yea I knew that…there is one little mark on the bottle and that’s it. I’m just curious about the bottom markings.

I picked up this early 60's bottle carrier and have been having a hard time find period correct early 60's bottles to fill it with, only a couple in the carrier now are from '68 or '69 the rest are early '70's, I just check all the Pepsi bottles I come across and eventually I'll find them, I'm in no rush, your bottle would have looked similar to the one shown in my carrier on the far front right...... :)

Here's a 1959 ad showing the bottle with the ACL style like the one you found...... ;) ....wanted to add, the other side of the bottle in the ad should have the ACL "Pepsi-Cola" logo in script lettering IIRC.

That is really cool! Wish the ACL was still there but it’s been on the bottom of the river for so long!!
