Got it.. it's the bottom part of a ferret spittoon.. different model than pictured of course..

These are some really good guesses. I have never seen a ferret using a spitoon until now. Who knew they needed one? Once you see that image, though, it becomes harder to argue against the plain old truth. Ferrets and spitoons belong together.

Thanks for your guesses. I suppose its not distinctive enough to know for sure.I'm going with snuff jar for now - that seems to be the most likely conclusion. The pet urn stuff was pretty funny. If anybody has a ferret that needs a spitoon, let me know.

I can't legally own a ferret because I live in Ca. But whatever this object is... I like it...Good find...

Thanks California but what does the quote mean? The state has outlawed ferrets? They're like lions or something? What sad times are these when cute little spitoon spitting ferrets are forced to go spitoonless.
