Here is my latest pontil scarred vet med. The lip is drippy, crud in the glass, saggy side and so much glass left on the bottom that it has trouble standing. Bottle collecting is the one time I appreciate poor quality control.

beautiful example Melinda. love the drippy top ! from my reading, i'm beginning to believe that a lot of the issues " crudity " in the quality control was the attempt at keeping the molten glass ( metal ) at the proper temperature. the poor technology of the time proved to create the ranges in glass production that makes our hobby what it is. jim

Nice bottle.I never thought of Venice as a place with a lot of horses. Did they use them to move barges through the canals? I like crude but for some reason, some people want perfect and they need to stand without support.I suppose that's true with horses too. [:D]

I wonder if it started out with the Tobias Liniment for people and branched out from there to the Horse liniment. Using Venice to promote a horse liniment does not make much sense. They probably had the least number of horses that any other European city. I do not think they used horse much for pulling barges on the canals..the walk ways are rather narrow. Plus you would have to take up precious space for stables and bring in all their feed.

Maybe it was for horses that wore blinders. [;)] Great looking bottle, Melinda.
