Does this seem like something a collector would want to use for a display or accent lighting? (I don’t think these particular insulators are anything special— just an example of how it would be used.) It’s an old metal shelf fitted with 4 low-wattage led bulbs.

That’s honestly a really cool display option! I actually think it’s a great way to display some of your “fancy” insulators!

Thanks! I’m planning to make a few more and hoping there will be a market for them.
Some beginner and more advanced insulator collectors would probably enjoy having a cool sleek way to display their insulators! This idea may actually produce some profit, if the price is right that is…But, this is definitely a nice way to display insulators!

Flush-mounted small LED lights should work nearly as well and not require a concavity in the base of the displayed item. In other words, flush mounted LED's would permit other transparent and translucent material items such as glass figurines, crystals and gems, onyx carvings and the like to be similarly illuminated for display

Good luck with your endeavor!

Also, LED lights that can be tuned for color and intensity might be desirable for such a display shelf.

Yes, clearly I have a lot more to learn about wiring. All I know how to do is a basic lamp with an inline switch. So many ideas, so few skills….

Thus the appeal of instructive videos on YouTube and other forums. The nice thing about LED lighting is that it gives one many low-voltage, DC options to choose from if you are less than comfortable working with AC.
