As mentioned don’t think this site was active pre-1900. Have found several what I think are old pre prohibition liquor bottles. 2 are Charles Boldt I think with 2 serif B, so from 1900-1919 think. Lots of bubbles and imperfections. Not very ornate at all but... Questions. What are the large fluted, multi sided ones, wine? Hair tonic?? Quest 2. A couple of these have small horseshoe shaped imperfections/cracks. Seems that they were in there since inception, what are these, old mold marks??? See photos
Quest 3. Large aqua one is marked A4, S5, UGD?? Kinda double struck too. Any clues?
Please provide any insights as I learn this hobby.

Update. I think the aqua one is United Glass Bottle, UGB. Seems pretty old with the marks like that compared to other UGB examples online. Could it be a beer bottle from early 1900s? Anyone have info on UGB?

The clear fluted ones probably had some sauce in them; Heinz and others used these. The one all the way to the left looks like a large pharmacy bottle. The clear one next to it could be alcohol but also could be any number of other things. The aqua one was likely whiskey of some kind; many of this style of bottle were made in the UK.

Thanks for the insights. Have you ever seen those horseshoe shaped imperfections in bottles (3rd pic). May have happened in later years, but glass is wavy near those marks and makes me think it was there from mfg.).

You see those a lot in early machine made bottles.

The 2 on the right of the group appear to be food bottles (vinegar?). If they are Heinz they will in all likelihood be marked as such on the base with a contents code.

Great info. I reread the Sha.org doc on Charles Boldt and the 2 serif B was still in use on certain food bottles like ketchup and vinegar until 1926 when Owens fully purchased them. The smaller fluted one pictured indeed has an Owens mark, so one likely early 20s and smaller one 1927 or later. I move those two back to burgeoning food jar group!!
