I inherited the cutest little bitters bottle. I was like, "Oh, it's beautiful!" in it's amethyst glass. I immediately looked at the embossing. It said 1852. So I look at the lip. The seam goes all the way up the lip. Immediately I realized, "It's fake." Then I looked at the bottom and laughed. "Made in Taiwan" it says. The bottle has a few bubbles in it, 12 paneled, a couple inches high and I love it. Even if a fake. Colsam Johnson/ Proprietor/ Richmond, Va./ 1852///Alancasters/Indianege Table/Jaundice Bitters//
I'm wondering, what is this for? Why is this particular bottle reproduced? Anyone know when it was reproduced? The other couple bottles (Medical related) and shot glasses are the real deal, but this is an oddity. What's up with it?

Probably 1970's. Not a reproduction but actually a flat-out fantasy bottle. There were a lot of bottles reproduced for various markets (one of the big markets being flower shops) in the 1970's piggy-backing on the burgeoning bottle collecting hobby. Back then everyone and their brother collected bottles...I remember finding dozens of dug out dumps in rural New Hampshire and asking an old timer who dug them and him saying that there were 20+ diggers in the area in the 1970's...by the time I was digging there practically wasn't anyone but me!

Would this little bottle fall under the category of Fantasy Bottles or Reproduction? I just got it today. It says, "ROOT / BITTERS" then on it's front heel, "OW7o" or OWZO" The base says, ""WHEATON, N.J." Then a small copyright symbol. It's colored as yellow honey and small, cute, and modern looking. Age? Is it real, or a reproduction, or a fantasy bottle, or what? I paid one dollar for it, more than it's worth to me but I like it's barrel shape and I got the Hires Extract bottle for only a quarter, same with the olive green candle holder. The seem goes up the lip.
