Hi,

We have a bottle apparently made in Sacramento, CA that is probably a soda, but may be a beer. It was dug farther north in CA. It's 8 inches tall, 2 1/2 inches wide, with an applied top; it's clear (the photo looks green, but it's not). The bottom is not flat, but it is not as rounded as a torpedo-shaped soda. It has an embossed label:

5 CTS
FOR RETURN OF
THIS BOTTLE
C. J. PETERS
901 K. ST.
SACRAMENTO

Anyone familar with this bottler? Is it a soda? Thanks!

Regards,
Bonnie

Hello Bonnie,All I could find is that C J peters 901 K sac. was a pharmacy. Here's a link you may enjoy looking at. It's the sac. phone book from 1898.

Hi diggerjeff & diginit,

Thanks for the info. After I posted, I did more research and found that Peters was a pharmacy that operated in Sacramento at least between 1895 and 1910. So, its more likely the bottle held citrate of magnesia rather than soda or beer. There are a few ones of similar shape on ebay.

Thanks!
Bonnie
