Sammis & Hertz Cream Soda Bottle

I found this bottle quite some time ago, and have been unable to turn up any additional info on it.
It is embossed across the front with "Sammis & Hertz, Hampstead L.I" and on the back it has "Cream Soda."
I can't even seem to find the location of Hampstead. Other than a town in New York named Hempstead, I've found nothing close.
If anyone could shed some light on this, I would be very grateful.

It is from New York. The L.I. stands for Long Island (Hampstead, Long Island) Also that blob has a pretty nice top on it.

Hamstead must be an error. It was Hemstead, NY. Nice find. Cream soda is somewhat odd to me too.

Would either of you believe it to be a rare find?
I read an article about a man who put together a large collection of Long Island soda bottles, and he had a different Sammis bottle.
Other than that I've found no reference to this company or any other bottle finds.

Nice looking bottle! Looks like an excellent candidate to have professionally cleaned, Tod would probably want to hear from you since it's not listed on his site. He lists the Sammis alone from Hempstead and a Hertz from Camden, NJ but no bottle embossed with them as partners. www.sodasandbeers.com
