We dug in philly again this weekend after a not so successful weekend of digging in Virginia last week. The pit was a bit shallower only a 26 footer but still had about 4 feet of nice pontiled layer. We got about 10 iron pontiled sodas and a couple nice pontiled meds and some other odds and ends. but the real star of the dig was an unlisted early scar pontil soda. Embossed J. Moon's Mineral Water - Improved patent. Its not ever day you dig and early patent type soda let alone a previously unknown one.

What an awesome find. Would love to see more pictures of the dig if you get a chance.

Phillys got some thick earth under it. Not too much rock and not too much sand.

That soda is sweet. It's a skinny little guy right? Take a pic next to a porter and a pony. Just awesome.

I laughed out loud at "Only a 26 footer" and agree with all above. Can't get enough of your pics and posts. My favorite so far. Can't wait to see your next, like reading a good novel but having to wait for the next chapter to show up unexpectedly. Good work! Jack
