i'm no expert either, but maybe he just hasn't researched bottles enough to know what a pontil is.

You are right Bryan, not a pontil. Most likely the person selling it is not very well educated on bottles, however they are probably are not meaning to scam anybody though, a person wanting to buy a bottle on e-bay should have a basic understanding on how to date glass and also do a little research on the item before bidding[]. As is that bottle is not desribed accurate by the seller. Josh
