Hello everyone, I am seeking some information about two old plates I recently acquired. One plate depicts the Bull-leaping in Heraklion, dating back to the Minoan civilization period 1700-1400BC, and the other shows Poseidon, Amphitrite, and Dionysos holding a dolphin. If anyone has expertise in this area and is willing to share their knowledge or direct me to additional resources, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide.

Tough to guess the age on a repro like that. It can't be that old since it uses the phrase "Minoan Civilization", which wasn't in use much before the 20th century as far as I know. I'd guess that - assuming they both have that reproduction marking - they're from roughly the mid 20th century. There's a good chance they were sold in the Heraklion Archaeological Museum gift shop.

Thank you so much for your prompt response and valuable insights regarding the origin and age of my Minoan Civilization souvenir plates. Your knowledge and expertise in the field have been truly helpful and informative.

I would also like to ask for your kind assistance in providing me with an estimated evaluation for the plates, as you mentioned in your previous message. Any information you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Once again, thank you for your time and assistance. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

I definitely don't have too much expertise in this area, apart from having taken a course on Minoan archaeology back in my undergrad (which I've forgotten pretty much everything from). I doubt that souvenir plates would have too much value unfortunately, but I don't really know anything about the market for this sort of thing.
