Yes, whoever told you that blob top bottle is from the 1970s knows NOTHING about antique bottles. But, to be fair, most antique dealers don't have time and energy to do a lot of in-depth research, and they only have a very superficial knowledge on a lot of things they stock.

They might specialize in learning about a few of their favorite types of antiques, and know very little about many other fields of collecting. But when they try to fake it and pretend they know............that's much worse than just saying. "Honestly, I don't know"!!
I really have to wonder what sort of thought process led them to thinking that the 1970s seemed like a reasonable guess for that bottle. The 70s weren't that long ago, so unless the store clerk is around 20 years old you'd think they would either remember what bottles looked like in the 70s or remember what bottles looked like a decade or two after the 70s. Maybe they thought it was a decorative bottle? But it still seems pretty weird to assume that a dark green utilitarian-looking bottle is decorative.

Yeah. The guy made it sound like if the bottle didn't have a pontil scar or didn't have embossing it wasn't vintage/antique. weird.

Anyway, today's ID might be a little tricky but here we go.

Yep. It's a Log Cabin Syrup bottle. From what I gather Log Cabin Syrup is one of those products where they love their old-fashioned art design and have either not changed it much. So yeah. This could actually be from the 70's based on what I know.

Here's the bottom anyway.

After some looking into it I've dated that Log Cabin bottle as 60's, or more like 70's (or maybe newer) It's a nice ornate bottle but it's not going into the collection. Here are some new ones to ID

First one is a very small aqua colored bottle, really more of a vial. Mold seam doesn't reach the lip, so maybe TOC?. Only identifying mark is a "T 2" on the bottom (maybe the bottle is a fan of James Cameron) also has some air bubbles.

Second bottle is also a vial. It's even smaller, in fact this is the smallest glass container I've found thus far in my dump digging adventures. I'm not even sure it's a bottle per se, it might even be like a glass fuse or insulating part of some kind. It's got nothing on the bottom, other than a dimple. I can't make out any air bubbles, but they could also be so tiny that I couldn't see them. It was really hard to get a picture of some of the finer details of it.

The amber Export Beer bottle were sold to breweries who bottled beer and shipped it a distance. They did not expect to get them back. So they were cheap and paper labeled. They were the generic beer bottles of the day and made by many manufacturers during the period 1870-1910. This makes numbers 2,10, 11 and 13 known to me. I am sure there are others. Info on the known Glass manufactures and jobbers of glass and pottery beer and soda bottles can be found here Beer & Soda Bottle Manufacturers with links to known bottles.

I think this one's pre-1900, but I'm not starting another thread so here's another one for consideration... a large, possibly blown in mold bottle. Very stained. Aqua color. Contains air bubbles. No marking of any kind. Date? Thanks :)
