Small ceramic with cork.

I’m not even sure what to call this. 2” tall and about 1-1/2” diameter. It has a cork. It is stoneware with a very nice glaze on it. Hopefully you guys know what it is. Also, what’s the best way to clean it? It already has a bunch of wear. If I scrub on it I’ll make the wear spots even bigger. And is there a way to fix the wear spots?

It's looks similar to those old marmalade jars, so I'm guessing some sort of spread was in it maybe jam?

I’m starting to find the term crock used for things shaped the same but a whole lot bigger. The smallest I’ve found so far online is 4” tall.
