no I don't believe it was used for snuff , but for smelling salts or colon . my reasoning is snuff would be hard to get out of a small opening . snuff traditionally came in tins or wide mouth jar's .
I'm not thinking snuff either but being ceramic doesn't lead me to smelling salts or cologne. It could be I guess. The shape is somewhat cosmetic / perfume though. Strange piece, thanks for the mystery. Jim
I can't rule out snuff, at least not by the small opening. CLICK but my gut says no. Cosmetic, can't rule that out either. Nor can I rule out a pocket nipper. How's that for useless?[]
