Just trying to figure out why else they'd put where the container was made, unless it meant something?? So this is another gift from my neighbor down the way, but all he said, while opening his eyes a Lil bigger, was that it was old, but can't be too old huh? The color is nice, does anyone have any ideas on a date and/or contents

The Belgians don't produce too much of anything in the grand scheme of global commerce, apart from guns and chocolate of course. So a glass jar made there is probably quite rare but not likely worth anything more than any other jar.

My guess is that the embossment on the jar has more to do with import/export rules than anything else. The jar is in an eye-pleasing color, a green that seems to have been favored in Western Europe. These are probably made in France:

I don't know about now, but Belgium was an important producer of bottles from the early 1700s. For example, a majority of the "Dutch" onion bottle were made in Belgium "for the Dutch trade". Much black glass was produced over a long period. If your black glass cylinder wine has an olive-amber cast, it could have been made in Belgium for export.

I agree with Harry, I think it's recent enough that they were required to list where the jar was made. Same reason you see "Made in China" printed on everything - the companies wouldn't do that if they didn't have to. I don't think the US ever had that requirement for bottles, so I'm guessing it was put on there because these were also being shipped somewhere where it was required - maybe the UK?
Belgium is an odd place for a jar to come from in the 60s or 70s (I think your jar dates to roughly that era) so I'm guessing that it held some product made in that part of the world.
