This is either an ink bottle or bear oil or med bottle from the 1850s.

I believe these are generally believed to be Taylor & Moore's bears grease pomade. If yours is aqua (like it appears in the photo), these generally run $50 or less. The Worthpoint example was in a rare color.

You are right...my bottle is aqua not teal. Dang!!! Its still really neat and cute.

It is quite neat and quite old! I dug one once here in Texas and was quite excited about it-still have it.

The best thing about this piece is that it has not been dug. It was never in the ground. And is in very near mint condition as a result. A very nice example.
