I went to a small boarding school in Ohio and dug some bottles back in 1971. They have been stored since then. Last fall i was cleaning out the garage and found this box of bottles that has been following me through several major moves. I decided to see if they were worth anything. In the box of bottles were the following. Remember this was my first dig back ijn 1971. not in any order, some embossed local milk bottles, 3 slick pontil meds, c. brinckerhoff's health restorative, 3 vaughns vegetable lithontriptics, stablers open pontil, carter's spanish mixture and more. i was surprised what they were worth and sold some on E-bay. I decided to go back to the dump and dig with my kids. We went and visited the school. When I got to the location it was all torn up recently by a bull dozer. (just last week) The school is putting in a covered terrace. We dug and searched the area for hours thinking the dozer would scrape off the top and leave easy pickens. We were wrong. We found only hundreds and hundreds of shards . DANG! We found several open pontil and iron pontil shards. One looks like a Carter's Spanish Mixture. Many broken tops and broken milk bottles but NO whole bottles. I've included pix from my 1971 dig and pix from the 2008 dig. What was the round bottle crier? One top looks like a stabler. There were lots of the inserts for zinc canning lids. check out the other pix of befor and today.
