It certainly doesn't resemble a typical insulator.. from San Fran, if I read it right.. maybe just missed threadless age?

That's a great find!

Cyberdigger - that's EC&M Co SF, for Electrical Construction and Maintenance Company. The company was a jobber for telegraph and telephone supplies in the 1870s and early 1880s. So yeah, it's old.

These were used extensively in California so they're not really rare, but there's lots of interest among West Coast collectors so the demand (and price) stays high.

That is a beaut and looks to be in good shape to boot. Those are highly sought after by many insulator collectors. Congrats on a great find!
