I found this in a dead tree that was lying in the woods. It is a light grey color glazed ceramic I think. The screw seems to be set into the insulator with lead. Maybe that will help telling how old it is. There are no marking of any type on it. I do not expect it to be either old or valuable. I know next to nothing about this type of insulator so any information as to age or type, basically anything. Thanks again.

These are called HOUSE KNOBS. They are used at the house to hold the electrical wiring coming in from the meter pole. Still in use on a lot of homes.
House knob huh? I seen em before. Not sure where. Thanks for the reply. I found a brown one similar to this when I was splitting up logs from a tree me and my dad fell years ago. I was at the splitter and the insulator was deep inside the wood. I pulled it out and still have it to this day.

Usually the term I've heard for that style is wire holder. They were made since at least the late 50s and are still available today in several sizes - you can even buy them at Home Depot. Bruce is right - just about any house built since the 60s will probably have this type of insulator on the electrical service drop.

Service Entrance Wire Holder, Lag Type. I have installed many of them. Still commonly available at most hardware or electrical stores.

I worked at an electrical distribution utility and we had names for everything that probably were not in the catalogs: monkey nuts, chicken catchers, pork chops, etc.
