Was wondering if you folks here could give me some more information on this bottle? Era, Contents, Rarity, any other quirks I should know. An ex of mine left it behind years ago and it's just been a decorative piece ever since and was curious about it...

sorry the picture ain't quite clear enough but the mouth is an old cork style... not the screw styles that i've seen in other photos on this site

Also what is the best method for cleaning up the inside of the bottle? Will swishing around CLR do?

Hello, I briefly collected these morbid bottles and from what I recall this company started in the very late 1800's or and are quite common. In near mint condition with no staining or damage I have seen them bring about $100.00. You'll probably be able to sell yours on eBay for maybe $50 if someone wants it and perhaps a bit more come Halloween when the crazies come out.

Here are some others that you may want to look for if you want to start a collection; the Roi-all will be the most difficult to locate and you could expect to pay about $300 IF you could find one.

It's not anything that CLR will cure. Prior to 1906 embalming fluids contained some really nasty stuff that left the glass etched and stained. If it doesn't come clean with mild detergent and water it will remain that way for the duration.

I still have a bottle with contents with wrapper and string wrapped around the neck Peerless bottle labeled DIOXIN.

If you'd like it to display better you can coat the inside with mineral oil or WD-40 and then cork to keep the dust out but after that changes state it will leave you with a bigger mess to contend with than it's worth. I think the stain is part of the history of sorts so enjoy it for what it is.
