I bought these 2 Mason's Improved (hero and CFJ) at a sale today for $2 each. Common I know but I like them. The CFJ jar has a lid that I don't recognize and that I'm sure doesn't belong to the jar. Here are the jars

Here is the lid, it has a lot of patent dates, starting with Feb 12th 56 and ending with Dec 22nd 1868, the patent dates go around both the outer and inner circular parts of the lid. It must be for a jar with a center clamp, anyone know what it goes to?

Another lid pic. All of the 6s on the lid are reversed and there are a lot of them as all but the first patent date are from 1860s. I'm guessing it must be pretty common if there are that many patents

The lid goes to Gem/The Gem jars and took a zink band like the jars you have... Alot of these jars = alot of these lids, The CFJCo jar will have the same CFJCo logo on the lid and are found at about the same rate as the Gem lids. JB

A true collector would match the inserts with the jar. The housewife canning produce would not. . If I were going to sell / buy such items (minimal value, $5.00 -$10.00) I would want them matched. If buying, I would pay low market value for non-matched jars / lids, upper end value for matched jars / lids. Neither item is difficult to acquire but takes some time / effort.
