I found this bottle along a creek bank that was collapsing. A lot of the dirt was made up of ash so I figured its probably a dump. Unfortunately it's right along someone's house. Does anyone know how old the bottle is? It's just the top and neck.

The home owners might be able to give you some history (if they've been there for a few generations, for example)

I’m not positive, but think they very well may be a earlier Dr. J. Hostetter's stomach bitters bottle. Arguably the most common bitters bottle you can find. But in general, they are very nice bottles. I would definitely get permission to dig there. Great potential for some old stuff.

Example of a early applied top Dr. J. Hostetter’s. If yours is one, then it is around 10 years newer than this one.
