Ive been finding a bunch like those lately-is that the same thing as an'ampule'?

Depending on its age, it may have had a rubber-type enclosure which the needle could be inserted through.

I've always thought of "ampule" as one of those small glass vessels which is completely sealed in glass. You have to snap off the tip of the vessel to open it.
