Virgin Dump

How's that for a catchy title. Well, this summer I was looking for a bottle dump and that is exactly what I found. W hen I first came across it over a knoll off of an old woods road I got pretty exited as obviously it had never been dug before with whole blown bottles littering the surface. I resisted the temptation to dig it up before I could get my camera , so I left it and came back the next day.

This is pretty much how I found it, somebody had cut some wood nearby years ago and some was even piled very close to the dump, whoever it was never give the old bottles lying there a second thought.

Small dump, but nice and spongey in middle like there could be alot of cans etc., so I open her up to see what she had. As you can see there was lots of roots to deal with.

Hey Pass,
You posted this on the 4th anniversary of your joining the site.
That looks like a wet area on the edge of a cedar swamp, something like what you'd find in Michigan.
It should be a good dig for you!

Aside from a couple broken blackglass bottles , it was loaded with linament , pat. meds, oils and the like most all of which were of the more common variety and of course most of it was all broken, but out of all that broken glass some whole ones were starting to surface. Started to build a pile of glass at the base of a big tree away from all the tailings

Cedar swamp, that's right Bill. I also remember how hot it was, I was soaked right through after a couple hours of diggin. Not a pretty site as I was walking out of there![]

After a couple hours it seemed like it didn't want to give up alot more , but I had more than enough to fill up my knapsack

If you got those the day before I'd say not bad for a no days work.[][]
Oh well, you had to go and bring tools. Oh wait, that's still not work![]
Those top finds still look OK to me. Congrats.
