Yeah it's an early ketchup bottle, and that's a suction scar from an automatic bottle machine, not a pontil. Nice bottle though, I didn't know Montreal had any embossed ketchups. These were kind of odd screw tops because they were actually cork-top bottles with a metal cap outside of the cork.

It has a bit of a purple hue, I have a bunch of other old bottles from this estate collection that also are old and have a purplish colour, and air bubbles.
Relative’s began collecting the bottles in late 1800’s, through 2010

I have whittled the 6000 down to about 1000 now

6000 bottles ?

bottle collecting was really popular in the 60's and 70's so its not surprising to learn about collections out there that had been sitting in storage or forgot about over time

I will start with Kijiji - in March Covid Permitting I will have sales at studio they are in here in Bracebridge.
The collectors Basement of home was Full - every wall had shelves like these. Grandfather started collecting in the 1800's his son with him as a child until he was 80 - a lifetime of keeping every neat looking bottle.
Unfortunately due to Farm having to be sold - approx 5000 went to the Dump in Corbeil Ont. - we kept about 1000 of what seemed to have value - I am sure there are hundreds of "good finds" back in the dump.
From the little research I have done there are some rare ones we have and some oddities.
