$200 Probably fair. I think your brother will be at the Indiana can show next week. See if he can sell it there for you. LEON.

I'd suppose this is one of the longest-living threads on the Forum. I have cans, all well beyond being worth trying to salvage, but I'm curious as to whether there is paint left beneath them? They have tops like this and are like the ones in this pic. All I see on them is rust except for one. I am interested in experimenting with them, for I want to know the brands. What I need to know, though, is what is the best brand of acid to use, and what percentage of acid should it be, along with how long do I let them sit in the acid? All I know is "Oxalic acid" is what I'm supposed to use. Are there other acids I could use? I've never seen Oxalic. I can find Sulfuric easily.

Bear, Those are flat tops you got there. You can try Citrus Acid. Or make your own Citrus.Make Citrus acid by adding 16 oz. of RealLemon Lemon Juice & a Cup of Salt to 1 Gallon of Water. I think you can use Vinegar or Combination of Vinegar with Real Lemon also. OR, Get ahold of my Buddy Ted that lives near you in Coopersville, He has Oxalic Acid & can show you how to use it.
