War spoils?

Bottle reads "fabrique chimique / epam. Menounos / athenes." Was told it could have been brought back from the war.
Found in my 30s dig site.
Thought I'd share it.
Any info would be cool.

That's an interesting find! A French language bottle from a Greek company? Looks like they're still around today (it was cologne/eau de toilette) but not sure what the connection to France is, apart from maybe just the idea that it's a language more associated with prestigious perfumeries than Greek is. I definitely have my doubts about it being anything to do with the war, especially if it's a 1930s site - not really the right era for American soldiers returning from any war, apart from the few who volunteered in the Spanish civil war. I think it's much more likely that this was either an imported product or something that someone brought back from a trip to Greece. Did your area have any significant Greek immigrant population around that time? They'd probably be the group most likely to have used it.
