Info to suggest that the Wards embossed 6½ oz bottle on the left is the earliest design of Ward's ribbed embossed and very possibly the prototype for the iconic ribbed design. Ward's then used a modified design that was 6oz, larger and fewer ribs and a longer neck.
Note the similarity between the bottle on the left and the original 1920 patent. Also compare to the regular Ward's embossed bottle seen on the right. Take note of the thinner and more numerous ribs as well as the shorter neck on the 6½ oz bottle. Bottom of bottle says only "DESIGN PAT.APP'LD FOR". No town, no bottler. In over 30 years of collecting Orange Crush bottles, this is the only 6½ oz ribbed Ward's bottle I have come across until seeing the 1920 Patent design. If anyone else has one of these, please post pictures for provenance.
