I recenty added this bottle to my collection. Seems to be a rare one for several reasons. Would be interesting to know if there are any other paper label 7-up bottles from the same time period from other Western Canadian cities.

Fantastic find, and I'm truly envious! Myself and another collector had quite the discussion on your FB post at Canadian Soda Pop Works trying to determine when Country Club first bottled 7up. The fact that it's a 12oz was a surprise to some degree, but again it makes sense as other big bottlers of the era were also offering 12oz. The other two paper label 7up's I've seen are both from Dominion Bottling Works Ltd.-Edmonton and Saskatoon, one is a 6.5oz and the other is a 30oz.

Very nice bottle. Haven't seen many paper labels 7up bottles and never seen a 12 oz before. I have a 6oz paper label of the same vintage from Polar Aerated Water Works in Calgary. Based on a newspaper article on the history of the company, Polar started bottling 7up in 1936 and was the first bottler of this brand in western Canada.

Interesting that you mention Polar being the first in western Canada, I have a newsprint clip showing 7up for sale in Dec. 1933 by Thorpe's in Vancouver, and there is also a photo showing Country Club's truck fleet with 7up advertising...the license plates on the trucks in the photo are from 1933.

I was hoping someone would pick up on this thread. '36 seems a bit late - which is why I noted it was a newspaper article as they can sometimes be off on things like historic dates. However, it is what they went with. Curious if anyone else has info that can help pin this one down. (note I had an earlier version of this post with a reference to a 1934 date by Pepsico - but that was for licensing of Pepsi in Canada not 7up. haven't found a reference for that one yet...)
