Hello all

Does anyone know what this can be? It is a small green bottle. It has a slit down one side. It appears to have an applied neck, but definitely an applied lip. There is something black and hard inside the bottle, but the stopper will not budge for love nor money! The base has an anchor with the numbers 1372 above it and a couple of marks below (one is possibly a zero or letter 'o'). Any ideas would be helpful at this point!

TIA Clare x

Interesting, never seen a bottle with a slot down the side like that. It suggests it was meant to fit into something. I'm really at a loss as to what though. Also I think the lip is tooled rather than applied from what I can see.

Not machine made for sure. My guess is that it was some sort of personal care product, scent, ointment etc that required a ground lip for preservation, and that it was part perhaps of a traveling set. The slot held it in place in some sort of set box?

Just a guess.

Once You Tighten The Top On .You Can Put A Little Rod Of Some Kind ,Down In The Slot. The Rod Would Be Long Enough To Keep The Top From Coming Open. Or Unscrewing. May Be

Some great theories. Thank you all. I like the idea of it being part of a travelling case. Also, thanks for the British bottle website. I shall ask there too.

Poison. Be careful if you do get it open. Not all poison bottles were decorated with the skull and cross bones. Some manufactured colored bottles, some did nothing to warn of the contents. I followed a thread about a fellow getting top dollar for poison K-3 bottles. Saw a similar bottle to yours. Grace abound is right about the locking top. If it is poison imagine the potency..
I have seen a bottle that came with a syringe before, so that's one possibility.

I've tried absolutely everything, but it will not open. I will be careful if it ever does.
