What does this area look like to you pros (UPDATE)?

I don't know but I would be locating a pump and a probe and some digging instruments and some sectioned liquor boxes and packing some groceries and some drinking water and,,,,,,,,,,, You get the point.

Looks like you have a cellar hole and some outbuilding foundations...classic New England stuff. Start following those stone walls (particularly downhill) and you might find a dump. Metal detector can help finding early dumps along the stone walls. Good luck! The cellar hole itself is probably not going to be productive...I've found a few where early houses burned down and nearby residents used the open cellar hole as a dump but otherwise they are usually pretty clean. Spring is in my opinion the best time to hunt for dumps in New England...no foliage and the leaves have been pressed down all winter by the snow.

Thursday evening. We are going to make sure there's no cemetery. If Sunday wasn't Easter we would be there.

first one is certainly a cellar hole. The smooth interior walls give it away. The second looks like a small family plot to me also. Could be an out building also, New Englanders almost always used stone markers, but the graves will usually be sunken also.

Tomorrow late afternoon we are scouting it with the probe and a detector and taking it from there. I will post more pics of the landscape. Can't wait to get this one rolling, it's been an awesome spring for dig places so far.
