What Method of Pontiling Created This?

Greetings,
This old, broken black bottle shows a definite bluing of glass in the pontil area

- can anyone explain the process that created this bluish tinge to the glass around the pontil?

I had responded to your previous post...this is often seen on British black glass bottles and is called glass gall or sandiver. Usually it is seen around the pontil but sometimes you'll see an entire bottle with it, which can result in a gorgeous bottle. If you search this forum for sandiver you'll find some explanations for it.
