not sure I've seen either of those 2 bottles before , the Felix is from Vancouver . I've seen whistle bottles before but they were in a different design and smaller

Yeah, I'm only familiar with the later designs for Whistle. I did search Google, but I could only find the smaller (6.5 oz) version of this particular bottle. I did come across one 32 ounce that was clearly a later design, lacking the ribbing.

I believe the mark on the bottom is Southern Glass Company, ca. 1923-1926. The bottle also has a "3" embossed near the base, which may or may not be a date code.

I remember hearing that Felix was from Vancouver, but I've only seen the ACL versions online. I've never come across any while digging.

For what it's worth, my digging partner pulled out a mint Cross & Co. stone ginger beer about two feet away. We were finding stuff from the early 1900's all the way up to the late 1960's.

sounds like a good location , not sure of the age of the Felix bottle , but I'd have to assume its from before they used the acl version . meaning 30's or 40's era ?

there is bottles from this area I've seen online or in stores but I never find them in the wild , even in old dumps / farms , some bottles are just hard to find now days

Well I can tell you that Cross & Co. was the area bottler for Whistle at least as early as 1922. It seems a lot of the 6.5 oz in that style show up, it was not uncommon for bottlers to have bottles made by a US firm, some of the later art deco style were US made, and some were made by Dominion glass.
Guess that quart was used prior to 1926 and would have used a paper label, very cool find!
In this photo the 6oz with paper label is made by Dominion with RD. 1923 on the front. I'm out in Mission, wish I knew of some places to dig!...have not done that in decades!

You know I don't think I've ever seen either of these bottles before. Had no idea there was an embossed Felix. I suspect that both are pretty rare.

That Felix bottle is one I have seen several times, one sat in a shop for three years that I frequent, a few friends have them...of course I don't have one!
That bottle pictured is a 12oz, they advertised early on (1928) for splits and pints, I cant recall seeing a split with the Felix embossed on it.
Felix Bottlers Ltd. was incorporated in 1926 January.

Thanks for the info Canadacan... and nice collection!

I will keep you in mind if I find any more of either bottle.

Actually, I'm just across the river from you. However, this particular dig site is quite a distance away and not easily accessible. I've been meaning to look around in Mission, though.
