Here is another of my purchases from the Downieville bottle show last weekend. It has no embossing but I liked it because of the shape. It is 4" tall, has 12 panels all the way around, a nice opened pontil, and a rolled lip. I would like to know what this probably contained. I paid 5 whole dollars for it and I think it's worth it.

The wide mouth probably means it's for something that's semi-liquid. Glue and ointment come to mind.

Likely a food jar. That was a good deal and it's a cool looking bottle. I dug a similar sized pontiled bottle with the same rolled lip, but it wasn't paneled.

I'm reluctant to say food because of the small size. As Brian said, maybe an ointment? I'm still open to suggestions and I appreciate everyone's comments.

ORIGINAL: capsoda

With the rolled lip I'd have to agree with Nick. Probably pills or something similar.
I'd go along with that.

pills, ointment, both in the medicine category anyway.
