Went digging in a big modern dump hoping to find older stuff a few feet down. No such luck, but did find some weird post TOC stuff.
Any idea what this is? Measures 9" long. Round hole at end of cone. Mesh filer on both ends. No markings on it at all besides the ribbing and rectangular panel where a label went.

I have one as well.. my understanding is that it's a vacuum attachment, but never seen evidence to support that.. and that's not the way we used it at parties back in the day.. [;)]

It's a vacuum cleaner “mothimizer†attachment. They were sold for a number of machines in the 1920 – 40’s. You would put moth crystals inside the glass container, connect it to your vacuum cleaner hose, and attach the hose to the exhaust port of the cleaner (normally a tank type vacuum). You would blow the fumes from the moth crystals into closets, garment bags, and the like. [;)]

I;m not sure, but the first thing that popped into my head on that medallion looking thing is that it looks a lot like the US Army Ordnance Corp symbol:

IMO The medallions look like a baseball medal. Crossed bats with a ball above, a pretty common design. You can even see the seams of the baseball on there.
