History
The bottles come both pontiled and smooth based and date from about 1848-1880. The product started by Udolpho Wolfe in New City and was advertised as a medicinal gin tonic, and invigorating cordial. When Udolpho moved to New Orleans he left his brother in charge of the New York operation. Many specimens were dug in New Orleans over the last few decades.

Here is a beautiful yellow Wolfe's Schnapps bottle. It was found in New Orleans. This bottle was never in the ground and is in near mint condition. I have enjoyed it in my window for many years. It is 9 3/8" tall and embossed:
