December 2007.

Welcome,

This website is a forum for antique bottle collectors, diggers, traders and anybody with an interest in old bottles. It is provided as a free service to the collecting community.

I have been collecting embossed medicine and cure bottles for over thirty years and although it is not a great collection it has given me a lot of enjoyment. Now that I am in semi-retirement I am spending time researching the history and contents of some of these wonderful old antique bottles. That is where I got the idea for this website.

I have found over one hundred web sites on old or antique bottles and the majority have either never been updated, contain lots of non-working links or are just plain un-inviting to new entrants to this fascinating hobby. Even the news group rec.antiques.bottles seems to have been abandoned by collectors and it was this that finally pushed me into doing something about it rather than just complaining! As you will see in a moment, the possibilities of developing this forum are endless. You can also upload photos and files with your posts and include external links in your posts as well.

There are already forums on; identification, digging, cleaning, displaying and photographing bottles, bottle shows and bottle club activities, auctions and sales of bottles, pot lids and jars.

Please participate as little or as much as you can and if you have any ideas for a new forum section please let me know. Click on 'Forums' on the menu above - it is your forum now….

Best wishes,

Signed Roger from the antique and old bottle forum.
