I think a dump like that is worth it just for the potential to find more signs like that. That looks like it will clean up really nice. Little cuties like the whiskey sampler will just have to be something you learn to settle for in the meantime.
Thanks for the info, cmulligan! I never would have guessed that the Westerholm is anything more than super common. I figured there must be about 20 billion of them made for one to float all the way out here. But stranger things have happened. Apparently more people than I would have initially...
You speak the language! Did you get the lime green Montag or the amber, or maybe both? Just the few bits of your found collection is impressive, and far beyond where I am at currently. I celebrate you and your success.
I really appreciate the heads up on somewhere to go. As far as I can tell...
I came in here to check responses, but I must say that is a very nice looking jar. The decorative embellishment embossed on the front and the barrel shape are great. THAT is a jar!
I think it really just comes down to breaking out the shovel and taking it down at least 3' x 3' x 6'. That is the only way to get a good thorough test and to eliminate screw ups in judgement. Digging like a crazy person at anything with potential is bound to pay off sooner or later.
Dig!
It is hard to make a good digging partner. I can't help you on finding anyone locally, but my own favorite strategy is to make sure that fellow diggers see my face at every place and every time that old trash deposits are present. That seems to work for making friends in the hobby, and also...
Yeah, Rick- the Mason jar is clear. I also had not seen the embossing before. I usually do an entire clown routine in the pit around any mason jars or jelly jars, but once in a while something catches my eye as weird. I try to be picky about it, because my girlfriend does not want me filling the...
Thanks for the replies!
Good eye, cmulligan! That is a Westerholm on the right! I found that one on a lake bottom locally here. It's covered in case wear and etching from the lake, but it is something different to look at. I doubt it would be anything anyone local would want. The one on the...
Thanks, botlguy! That is actually worth much more than most of the sodas and beers that I work my ass off for! lol! It will not need to go on the top shelf the furthest from the cat then!
I really enjoy the art deco sodas. Those are very funky looking after your eyes have seen 50 hutch sodas in a row. I have only really had one chance to dig them out here, and that was when a lake was drained in a city park.
That seam looks great. I see lots of glass, and lots of rust. Get...
That is a beautiful piece of EARLY Western glass. I dig in Colorado, and I watch your posts keenly to learn about the early Western stuff. I have researched and am ready for the snows to break so I can go back another critical 15-20 years in time. I am keeping my expectations realistic, but I...
I posted this jar as part of a weekend dig story, but thought that I would also post it here. I am not sure if this is just another funky jar being dropped off here, or if this one is an interesting example. I don't know enough about it to be able to tell the difference.
I have researched...
