    PSA- friendly reminder

If you dig, this is by far the most important first aid to pack! Sometimes glass will cut right through your gloves and 1,000,000 bandaids won't help you...

    Any idea?

I'm trying to track down the location of a specific site and the woods are a nightmare. I found this in a hillside and am hoping it's 1914? It was just the bottom of the bottle..

    Not a bottle

My only keeper find from a grueling day of detecting and bottle hunting. Huge, heavy, and old!

    Today finds

Started finding glass while metal detecting, glass was mostly all broken. But I managed to walk away with a small post-1900 horseradish & vinegar 4 oz bottle/jar from Seattle, and this bad boy! (I'll add the bottle picture when I dig it out of my pack)

    Busted...

The only worthwhile find for months. I was excited until I wiped away the mud and inspected it. Oh well.

    Bug spray??

What do y'all use for insect repellent? I'm curious, and tired of bugs! I'm not far from buying a barrel of pure DEET and rolling the dice...

    Not a bottle, not glass

Found while metal detecting and investigating an old homestead site.. Found a couple other things, but I'm stumped on this.. Any ideas? Not sure on metal composition yet, HIGHLY doubtful its silver..

    Program/app for mapping and overlays?

I need it to have a PLSS setting/option and has to be able to accept multiple user uploads of maps/data/files, the option for multiple overlays per image would be sweet too! Anyone know of something?

Anyone dig up the whole car?

I've found parts, pieces and frames to 3 vehicles (30's-50's) in a local spot. 2 cars are above ground and amongst a sea of broken glass. One though, likely the most whole, is 100% buried. After 30 min of digging around and removing other debris I quit. There may be old whole bottles/jars...

    Salmon hatred

I don't eat them, I love to catch them, but these days, they've made my shit list! In my neck of the woods, a majority of the rivers and creeks could potentially have something to do with salmon; which means there have long been massive cleaning projects as well as legal/financial penalties for...

Any luck with heavily logged areas?

There are a few places I've been searching that have pre-1900 logging history, but have also been steadily logged ever since. Anyone been down this nightmare of a road? Were you successful at all?

How do you mitigate the cold when digging?

Aside from numerous sets of extra clothes and layers, how do y'all best mitigate freezing temperatures? Even though the ground is somewhat frozen, I would like to get to some digging, relatively soon (hopefully before the next snow-dump). I'm well versed at the art of layering (snowboarding)...

    I have the coolest bottle!

While continuing to go through boxes and figure out what gets kept, sold or becomes target practice, I happened upon this beauty! (Stoneware, not glass) None of y'all got one so cool! And certainly not handmade, with the same amount of love and care! A bit crude, but earlier works always are...

    Might be a retarded question

Might not even the the right forum... Can metal detectors hit on leaded glass? I know the lead content was generally pretty low, but we got some smart folks here. Side note- I've also wondered about Geiger counters and uranium glass..

    Only creek find so far

Only one that was whole at least.. 1947 Mission Dry ACL (no longer ACL after 75years in the creek...) Found it somewhat accidentally while metal detecting... I like it though.. I've found a bunch of these where I'm at, but only in pieces....

Where can i get an appropriate lid for this?

Do I just have to watch eBay and forums? I would like a period correct, original lid for this lovely little bad boy.. Any ideas? Personally, I refuse to buy jars/bottles, but this was a gift. I love the color!

    Memes to brighten your day...

Making room on my phone and figured these should be shared before deletion. Add some if you got em'. The world needs more smiles and laughter these days!

It makes me feel so less weird

Just knowing that so many of y'all (too many maybe?) are combing creek beds, looking in ditches, digging in hillsides, etc. makes me feel a bit better about what so many see as a beyond strange hobby/passion.. I've broke it off with two ladies since I started this lol. Glad I'm not alone in on...

    Yellow Jackets

There is no fighting these nasty little fuckers, only RUNNING! I lost (ditched) a brand new shovel today, and my big water bottle. I'm in a new place, don't really know the lay of the land yet, was on ((off)bushwhacking) a logging trail a couple miles from a road.. Climbed up on a huge...

Are some places just not worth it?

Found a bottle dump off of an old logging road. There was pieces of all sorts of bottles from the 30's, on and near the surface. But, it is FULL OF ROCKS, and has tons and tons of shell casings scattered about.. I'm worried it has already been picked through (more than once), and everything...
