    Old Olive Oil bottle

Found this in the back of a Curio Cabinet. My Mom had it labelled on the bottom. Olive Oil Bottle - 1600's. That's all I know about it.

Bottom marks on a Hutchinson blob.

The marks on the bottom kind of looks like a shield with a head or a crown at the top. I dunno. What do you think?

    tumbling a bottle

I'm curious. How long ago was it that folks started tumbling bottles?

Lines on a bottle, flaw or not?

Sandchip, This appears to be the best explanation so far. It looks like it starts from the bottom on my bottle, as well. Gather lines, or ground lines is a much more appropriate name. It makes more sense than Straw lines. Thank you!

Coca Cola - Foil Cooking book for Boy Scouts

I looked around. There was one for sale on Amazon, but it sold. There's one on Ebay for $14 + shipping. Neither gave any more info than you have. It looks like 1960's to me.

Lines on a bottle, flaw or not?

With these bottles that you've found. Do you consider the marks a flaw?

Lines on a bottle, flaw or not?

Leon, I was thinking the same thing, but were the lines there before it was buried? Could be. The article says that it happens with bottles that are never buried, too. And looks the same. I would say that my bottle was in the ground, for sure. Thing is, I guess it doesn't make a difference...

Lines on a bottle, flaw or not?

Ok, I have found out what they are. They are called Straw Marks, or Lines. Either brought on in the production process. This most likely was a function of the way the glass was made (the batch components) or the way the batch was mixed. That, or in a chemical process that happened while the...

Lines on a bottle, flaw or not?

Thank you. I haven't seen this before. Is it a common thing? Is there a name for it other than swirly lines caused during manufacturing?:)

Lines on a bottle, flaw or not?

I wonder what caused this. These lines that swirl on the bottle are too uniform to be incidental scratches. Probably made during manufacturing. They are raised and you can feel them with your fingernail. Does anyone know what they are, and what caused them? I looked around on several condition...

(1882-1897) Rare Hutchinson Blob Top - Buchheit Bottling Works - New Decatur, Ala. for sale

Yep. Been to Scottsboro for First Monday many times when I was a kid. Been to many digs in Huntsville with my Mom and Dad, also when I was a kid. Too young to get down in the holes, spent a lot of time roaming around looking for insulators and stuff topside. Good times.

It looks as if the second bottle listed AL0256 is a match for mine.

Buchheit Bottling Works - New Decatur Ala Hutchinson

I think that I've been able to find out a little about this one. It's got DOC embossed on the heel. Perhaps it's Domenic O'Conner Cunningham, Pittsburgh, PA 1882-1897? The B on the bottom I'm sure is for Buchheit. If anyone can confirm or correct this info, or narrow down the date, I'd...

    Pepsi Cola bottle

Thanks. Nope, nothing embossed on the rear heel.

    Pepsi Cola bottle

Hello again. What have I got here? It that a slug plate? How come there isn't an = between Pepsi and Cola? Significance of the trademark embossing, and 2322 on the bottom? Also, the lip. They look like they might be chips, but then again no. Please enlighten me. How old it it, and a value? I...

    Honey Amber Coke

Thanks, Leon. I hadn't seen one that light before, and when I saw it on that site it got me wondering. I emailed the owner of the site, but no reply. Bill

Ok, it's been a couple of weeks. Can anyone tell me anything about this bottle? Thanks!

    Honey Amber Coke

Is mine the same as this one that is here in a Antique Coca-Cola Bottle Hall of Fame list? http://www.antiquebottles.com/coke/fame.html (Hope it's ok to post links). Scroll down to the 17th bottle, described as a Huntsville Ala S-S Coke in rare honey amber coloration. These are usually seen only...

    Coca-Cola Root bottle

Hogtown Hunter, Thanks for the info. Is this valuable bottle, even with the chip? Is there a book that lists the codes or manufacturers marks?
