Hi Andy..thansk for reply. The metal is fairly soft pewtar or lead . The stopper is a spindle with cork wrapped aroujnd it...so yes it has a cork stopper around a center shaft of lead. No eivdence of silver plating. I agree think it was some sort of liquor bottle like cognac etc....and also...
