Surprise From The Ol Dump

Nice finds. It must be nice to dig right now. Covered in snow and cold weather here.

Dug this jug today

I have been poking around in this cellar hole for a couple years when I get a chance. I'm not sure how old the site is. The earliest map I can find is 1907, and the house is listed on that map. I have pulled out bottles from the 20's-40's. Nothing really great. Lots of broken stuff. Also pulled...

Dug this jug today

Here's a crier for me. I dug this jug at a cellar hole I have been digging in. It was stuck in the side wall. It has a chip in the lip, and the handle is broken off, but this is as close as I have come to a whole jug. I usually just find pieces. I'm happy with it though. It will hold my change...

I got out for a couple hours to a spot that I hunted about a year ago. There are three different dump sites on about 20 acres of wooded area. All three areas seem to be from different periods, so you'll see a variety of ages here. Nothing great, but I thought the coolest one was the purple...

Digger Don, thanks for the tip. I will try this method. I am itching to get back out and investigate more. With the crazy weather this year, the water level is prohibiting me to gig it out. I will try again in a couple weeks. I'm just wondering if old homes would have "coal ash" pits within 30...
