Comparing Clay pipes

Dabeel, I've been digging today with the man who actually wrote two books on clay pipes. We're in a time sensitive spot, they want the parking lot to go in now, I posted some finds before. This gentleman hails from baltimore and drove up to nh today to help finish the dig as I was the only one...

earlyglass/mike, what do you suppose it's worth? Who is Thomas Foxcroft and what does the date mean? Is it the date he started the buisness or the date of the stuff in the bottle?

It may not break down but my back will! Found one more today along with a bottle, hagans magnolia balm, about 1 3/4" tall, better than nothing. monday looks promising.

joethecrow, the guy had dug on this site back in the 70's when it was a single family home, so he really couldn't tear it up. Theres only about 20' on each side of the house to the property line so you were limited on where you could dig. Found most of the stuff right in the front yard on...

They used a reed mouth piece. most of these were shipped from NH down around FL up the miss to the missouri into montana, woming to trade with the Indians and trappers for furs. They been found in many frontier forts.
