I use a product called 'Pen-touch' white, fine point, 1.0mm. It states on the labeling that it is quick-dry (true) opaque white ink - permanent (false). Alcohol will take it right off if you have any mistakes. I have even seen black or other darker colors used on clear or aqua bottles'...
Take a look in 'Displaying and Photographing' under Cobalt Man's Display, that's me. There are a few pictures of my collections there. It is difficult to keep the pics small for the space and retain some clarity, definition of the bottles. Here's another one from my dusty shelves:

No, I don't have any of those beautiful poisons. I mainly collect cobalt druggists, cures, or bitters -when I can afford them. I would love a Dr. H.A. Strubles with embossed kidneys or a E.W. Hoyt Wannalancit Indian Bitters on my shelves.
